2003 Mary's Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc

Mary's Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc
VINEYARD INFORMATION

Mary's Vineyard is located north of St. Helena and south of Calistoga. It is a level, 22-acre site with moderately fertile soils, good sun exposure and excellent air circulation. In addition to the ideal terroir, we use sustainable farming methods accompanied by low yields to preserve the essential personality of this site. This was the first vineyard purchased by the Trinchero Family. Named after Mary Trinchero, Mario's wife and mother to Bob, Roger and Vera.

WINEMAKING

Even though it's located in a relatively warm area, structure is one of the hallmarks of Mary's Vineyard. For texture and weight the wine was partially barrel fermented (49%) and aged for four months in used oak. Additional complexity was gained by combining Wente clone (64%) and Musque clone (36%).

WINEMAKER NOTES

Ripe fruit, great acid. Year in, year out, that's the modus operandi of Mary's Sauvignon Blanc. The 2003 is one of our best ever from this site. The nose is all grass, dried herbs, lanolin and a hint of Vanilla; the palate is dense, concentrated and firm. Good stuff!
